ONERA’s Department of Physics Instrumentation Environment and Space (DPhIEE) is on one hand, an internationally recognized actor, in the physical modeling of atmospheric and space radiative environments and on the other hand, in the operational evaluation of the effects of these environments on embedded electronics. The experience of ONERA / DPhEIE in these two fields brings a key contribution in FLODAM. Thus, ONERA has been developing since 2007 the MUSCA SEP3 platform dedicated to the multi-physics modeling of singular effects (SEE) in digital technologies.
This platform, which can modelize atmospheric, spatial and neutronic environments, has physical models adapted to several types of process (bulk, FinFET and FDSOI) and validated up to 28-nm integration nodes. In terms of application, MUSCA SEP3 can be geared towards issues related to hardening by design (ANR LIESSE, Eniac DEMETER, Sofradir expertise, CNES, integration into ATMEL’s design flows), or towards end-user needs for calculation. operational risks. Thermal and aging physical models are integrated. A theme dedicated to the characterization of the atmospheric atmospheric radiative environment (ERN) is also conducted. It is based on the development and deployment of an operational network of neutron spectrometers (Pic du Midi and Concordia via the IPEV Chinstrap project) which, together with the modeling of primary cosmic rays and atmospheric cascades (ATMORAD platform), allows extrapolate the environment for airborne missions.
